The Itty-Bitty Bookworm is committed to excellence and devoted to the basic tenet that quality education can be enjoyable, too! Our program is specifically designed for children ages 18 months - 5 years of age, and tailored to meet the unique needs of in-home preschools, family child-care centers, child development centers and home-schooling families.
Itty-Bitty Bookworm sent me the Bailey Curriculum to test out on Lucy. As a homeschooling mom, I've been eying the Itty-Bitty Bookworm a lot over the last few months, so I was beyond excited when I got the opportunity to review this curriculum for my 2 year old.
The Bailey Curriculum came on a disk, and I popped it into the computer. Up popped a screen leading me to 12 pdf files, each one labeled for a specific month.
I decided to jump to July and take a look at the plans for that month. When I opened the file, and saw that it was 132 pages, I really thought I was going to be overwhelmed. Instead, I couldn't believe how simply everything was laid out! They had all the information that you would need for the full year - recommended reading lists, supply lists, schedules, teaching tips, everything I would need to make homeschooling my toddler easy - and successful! - laid out month by month at the beginning of each month. That meant I could start the curriculum any time of the year and not feel lost or wondering where to start. What a great idea!
As I was looking through the lesson plans for the month, I thought back to when I taught a 2 year-olds daycare class. Each week, we had to sit down and write up lesson plans for the coming week, including art, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, reading.... and on and on. I couldn't help but think how awesome it would have been to have the Bailey Curriculum from the Itty-Bitty Bookworm! My boss would have thought I was a genius! :)
I printed out a picture from one of the week's lesson plans and had Lucy help me color it. We read the story assigned to that lesson, and sand a few songs. Lucy had a blast.
I enjoyed this curriculum so much that I'm going to start implementing it on a daily basis starting next month. My older kids will begin their lessons again, and now I'll have good, quality lessons to teach Lucy while I'm teaching the older kids. you can't ask for better than that!
I am truly impressed with the Itty-Bitty Bookworm and their curriculum. It is absolutely perfect for toddlers, and I really wish I had just purchased it last year when I began homeschooling. Lesson learned: No more debating. This disk is full of more resources than I ever could have imagined. I think at Lucy's next well visit, she's going to knock her doctor's socks off with what she's learned!
